Hello! Im looking to use a Dell T5610 as virtualization machine with this setup:
2xE5-2696V2 CPU's
128GB RAM
1 SATA SSD for the virtualization OS
2 1TB Samsung NVME SSD for the VM's
Im looking forward to run about 60-100 VM's and VMWare Workstation Pro only capable running 64 maximum, I read that Virtualbox doesnt have a VM limit under Linux but as far as I know more professional hypervisors like ESXi, Xenserver etc. have better performance.
I already tried ESXi 6.5 (The dell version for R720) and the newest 6.7 version, only problem I saw is that they dont show the sensor details, it says this system has no IPMI capabilities. I really would like to use ESXi because I just dont like Xenserver and Proxmox's UI, ESXi seems much more user friendly and better for me at least.
So these are my questions:
-Is there any other way to monitor temps and hardware if ESXi's monitor not showing up?
-Is RAID possible through PCIe adaptors for the NVME SSD's?
What do you guys suggest?
Thanks for the answers!
