Snapshot has been deleted but Consolidation is still required

My specific short question is how to get rid of the consolidation message without consolidating.

Here is why:

We have a production VM for which a snapshot was not deleted and not discovered for a long time. The snapshot (of a thin provisioned vmdk) grew to the point that the datastore was out of space and caused the server interruption.

Due to storage constraints, in the end we moved all files out of the snapshot to a new vmdk and then disconnected the snapshot from the VM and moved the snapshot to a new datastore. We then added the new vmdk and the VM was up and running.

The issue is even though we moved the snapshot, we still get a message about consolidating the disks, and with an open snapshot we are unable to run Veeam for a backup prior to doing so.

At this point what will disk consolidation do? I dont want any changes merged.. I just want the old snapshot to go away and any reference removed from the configuration.

Please help me determine the next step.

Thanks
