This is a bit of a strange issue so I'm hoping someone else might have seen this.
This seems to have started after a Windows update. If I reboot a Windows 2012 R2 server, in this case it is a domain controller, I am unable to RDP to the server after the reboot. If I attempt to log in via the console in VMware, I can type in the fields and characters will display, but if I hit <Enter> or click the "Submit" button, nothing happens. It's like it does not recognize that I submitted anything. No error, nothing. It just acts like it doesn't know I hit Enter or Submit. While this is happening I can still ping the server, but I cannot log in or RDP to it.
If I shut the VM down, disconnect the NIC, I can then log in via the console. I can then reconnect the NIC and things seem to work.
I have tried removing the NIC, reinstalling VMware tools but still the problem remains. It is a VMXNET3 nic.
I realize this also sounds like a potential Microsoft issue since it seemed to be working fine prior to the updates so I'm really grasping at straws at this point. I have also removed the updates but that didn't fix the issue.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
