We're getting repeated errors saying consolidation is needed on a number of our VMs. We'll consolidate them, and then it'll happen again (within a couple weeks or month? not exactly sure the duration). There are no snapshots showing in the snapshot manager, but I can see that there are snapshot vmdk files. Since we haven't made manual snapshots of these, I'm assuming it's our backup software (Unitrends). However, I put in a support ticket at Unitrends and they're saying it's not on their end - they've looked through their logs and see no errors. So they're saying it's a VMWare issue. :-(
Any thoughts? Again, I know how to clean it up (although on a couple of them it won't consolidate anymore, saying it's exceeded the number of attempts, but I haven't had time to track that issue down yet) - but I'd really like to figure out what's happening and how to fix the root cause.
