Have a question about IsPerenniallyReserved storage device attribute. It should be set to TRUE to reduce LUN rescan time for MS cluster shared drives LUNs.
Today I checked one of our hosts, which was configured by previous admin, and noticed many devices that marked as perennially reserved. Most of those devices are either not MS cluster drives, or could not be found at all.
So, questions:
- Should IsPerenniallyReserved be used for cluster drives only?
- Is there any side effects of marking standart LUN, or VMFS storage, by IsPerenniallyReserved attribute?
- Is it save to remove reservation for devices that are not cluster drives?
